When your laptop's power cord stopped working, there are three possibilities.
Either the battery is dead, can not be charged, the power cord / power supply itself is damaged, or the port is broken.

If your laptop when you're trying to charge it, the battery is not a problem. This means that either the line or port. To test this, buy another charger, or borrow a friend's, to see if it is working properly. If not, your charging port is damaged, you need to contact your computer manufacturer or repair shop.
If another power cord works well - you're fine.
